Chorti Guaya'b coffee is fair trade, organic, and bird-friendly, produced in the Cuchumatanes mountain range in western Guatemala, in the department of Huehuetenango. It is grown on small farms managed by indigenous families who are deeply committed to protecting the environment and producing exceptional Arabica coffee.
It is produced by the Guaya'b civil association, founded in 1998. Guaya'b is a term from the Popti' Mayan language meaning “mutual aid.” The older generations did not use money to hire labor: purchases were not made with coins; their trade and sustainability were based on mutual aid.
This coffee has an ideal consistency in the cup, a well-balanced body with a nice long finish. Pleasant fruity and tangy notes characterize this coffee with its intense aromas and fragrant cup.
