What do you mean by "artisan roaster" ?
Roasting is an art and a craft that requires know-how, patience and sensory expertise. Our aim is to awaken your taste buds AND to bring out the best in the coffee’s terroir of origin.
More precisely, roasting involves heating and ‘cooking’ the green coffee beans to release all their aromas. There are many parameters that determine and reveal the profile of each coffee, and we carefully determine the right roasting level for each one.
And, beyond enabling you to drink delicious, well-balanced espressos, it’s also our responsibility to showcase the work of our coffee-growing partners.

Our roasting workshop as if you were there
The magic happens in our workshop in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes. It’s Miguel, our artisan roaster and master of the premises, who receives the bags of green coffee that we source directly from the producers. Depending on their profile, he defines a precise roasting process and makes spits (i.e. roasting ‘batches’). Then, once the beans have been roasted, they are packaged in bags of 250g, 1kg or more, depending on our customers’ requirements.

3 key points
If you're wondering how roasting works at Javry, there are 3 key parameters that set us apart from the big coffee brands.
At Javry's, we roast on a weekly basis !
Weekly roasting
Our coffees are roasted every week and delivered to you within a few days of roasting. This ensures ideal freshness and, as a result, an unbeatable taste in the cup.
Meticulous roasting
After each roasting, the coffee's loss of mass is measured and the colourimetry is analysed. 24 hours later, the coffees are cupped to check their quality in the cup.
Slow roast
Unlike industrial techniques (known as flash roasting), we take our time to get the best out of each coffee bean, with roasts lasting around fifteen minutes.
Different grinds for different coffeemakers
Grinding refers to the way in which the coffee bean is ground. You’ll find our coffees in different grinds, whether for the office coffee machine or the one in your home.
