Red Bush, or Rooibos in Afrikaans, is a small bush that thrives only in the Cederberg region, on the mountainous plateaus north of the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. The leaves and stem are used to make an infusion with a coppery red color and a sweet, aromatic taste.
The rooibos leaves are harvested by hand and then finely ground before fermentation. This easily digestible beverage does not contain any theine and is known for its low tannin content and anti-oxidant properties.
This rooibos comes from the Wupperthal Tea Association which gathers small producers, all committed to the preservation of the ecosystem and traditional know-how.
